How your data is handled

A short summary. The Privacy Policy has the full detail.

What we collect

• Account — name, email address, account identifier.
• Groups and expenses you create — members, expenses, who paid, splits, balances, settlements, notes, categories, UPI IDs.
• Images you upload — group photos and receipts.
• Optional — names and phone numbers of device contacts you choose to import.
• UPI settlement attempts — recipient UPI ID, amount, and the reference or status your UPI app returns.
• Notifications — a device push token, if you allow notifications.

What we don't collect

Bank credentials, card numbers, UPI PIN or OTPs — those stay in your bank and UPI apps. We don't track your location. We don't use your data for advertising, and we never sell it.

Where it's stored

On Donezy's secure cloud servers. Connections are encrypted, and access is limited to you and the group members you share data with.

Sharing

Data in a group is visible to that group's members. Service providers that host our servers, deliver notifications and provide Google sign-in process data on our behalf. We disclose data only when the law requires it.

Your controls

• Edit your profile and UPI ID in the Profile tab.
• Turn notifications and reminders on or off in Settings.
• Block another member from the Friends screen.
• Export a copy of your data from Settings.
• Permanently delete your account — see Delete your account.

Retention

Your data is kept while your account exists. After deletion, only anonymised shared-ledger entries remain, for as long as the group exists.
